Trendy Christmas Card – revisited

in Cards, Stamping

So I took some of your advice from the comments on my last post and made some changes to my Trendy Trees Christmas card.

In fact, as it turns out, I took almost all of your advice…

I’m not sure what I think about it, so at the risk of my stampin’ confidence, I’m throwing it out there again…

And here are the original and the new side by side for purposes of comparion…

I cut the card to turn it into a 10.5 x 10.5cm one, enlarged the square of Kiwi Kiss behind the scalloped element and added a tab of Riding Hood Red striped ribbon.

For the baubles, I dotted around some of my Tombow Multi liquid glue and sprinkled on some Orange Fine Supernova Glitter to make the baubles sparkly.  I’m not sure that it doesn’t now look like the original “leaf” now has an unfortunate case of some kind of pox.  A sparkly pox, but a pox all the same.  Aunty Mair, can you look that one up for me…?! ;-)

Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not too sure about this one.  I think it’s a bit too fussy for my tastes.

What do you say good visiting folk?  Is it a better attempt than the first, or do I really just need to put this down as a learning experience, step away from the tree and move on….?!

Ooohhh, I like the first card and I love the second card. To be honest, if there had only been a first card, I would have loved that too but seeing there is a second card, I do like this one better :-) Well done you.

Oooohh I love that you’ve posted this while the flossies are sleeping!!! Your stampin’ confidence SHALL forever and a day remain intact my love. This too is gorgeous. I LOVE the addition of the little ribbon tag… you know me and ribbon… have to use it somewhere on every card. And as for the “sparkly pox”… I can assure you it most definately DOESN’T look like any form of pox i’ve seen… well not that I’ve seen that many!!! :o ). Tim… what do you think.. oh dear perhaps I shouldn’t ask!!!!
Awesome job Sair. It’s gorgeous.

DO NOT STEP AWAY FROM THE TREE!! or was that Leaf??…LOL

I actually like them both for different reasons. I think I prefer it pox-less but the little card is cute. But you know, you could throw a card together and i’d still love it because you know I’m a stalker. (I need a thermometer stamp eh?) xo

I LOVE the new card! The bling is so cute and definitely makes it look more Christmassy and the larger Kiwi Kiss square and ribbon tag just bring out the Christmas colours more! Looks very cute! I’m going to have to pick up my Trendy Trees set now and make me some Christmas trees!
Love Tim’s reply on the last post – so funny!
I’m scared to ask what he thinks of this card now…?!

Hi S
I hadn’t had a chance to comment until now. I do like all the changes to the second version – love the whole motif part & change to square card – but the choc chip base is still throwing me off a bit. I think maybe if it was kiwi & the choc was the square behind the scallop, that would totally christmas-ify it…but that could just be because I’m a bit obsessed with kiwi & rh red at the moment. Hi Sair – lovin this heaps better…………….just reading Di’s comment though and think I agree with her! Do a kiwi base and the choc chip little square behind the square scallop and I reckon you’ll have nailed it!

As for the card…. yeah i’m with you, all the advice was super but in the end if it was me I’d be steping away from the tree… (love that comment too!!) I don’t know what it is for me personally and as that is what you’ve asked for I have been completely honest! Do know thought sweet and wonderful Sarah that I think YOU”RE AMAZING and your creativeness is fabulous! Always trust in your gift!! :)

Crikey trees and pox….not in any forest I’ve been in! I don’t care what you post, it always makes my day when I come home and there’s a new one. If I had to choose I’d go with the first one, as I said yesterday the word ‘joy’ says Christmas to me xx
