Ivy Amelia’s Christening Card

My newest precious niece was christened at the end of August – Ivy Amelia – a beautiful name for an adorable little poppet!  I had a brief moment of thinking that for the first time in a good many years I might have to buy a card as I was at an absolute loss as to what to do!  Don’t worry folks, it WAS a brief moment and I duly slapped myself and got on with the job.  Aside from the fact that the precious niece belongs to my gorgeous sister-in-law Janny who would never have forgiven a store bought card from me!

So with nothing in the way of stamp sets for religious occasions, I had to think outside the box a little and went with an idea I had seen around the place to make “wings” with the Pick a Petal set, butterflies signifying new life and all…..

I have actually had these “wings” hanging around my desk for quite some time, ever since I first saw a dragonfly made using this set on Splitcoast.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about making the body, but I decided that the half pearls from the Pretties Kit were perfect for the job!

Also a bit lost as to what sentiment I could use, I thought “special day” would do the trick, so I went with that, stamped and cut out and stuck on top of the gorgeous flourish stamp from Baroque Motifs.

“Ivy Amelia’s Christening Card”
Stamps: Pick a Petal, Baroque Motifs, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Paper: Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Vellum cardstock
Ink: Whisper White, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Pretties Kit, Glue Dots

Thankyou for making such a beautiful card for my beautiful girl… who BTW had a 2 hour sleep for me today … and as a result is even more beautiful!!

Hey Sarah… I was thinking of you today up there at regionals… I bet you nailed it! Love this card… I am going to order Pick a Petal as my freebie from last week’s regionals.

It’s just gorgeous Sarah. If you ever get stuck, “peace” is also a good phrase for sacraments. I used my “peace” stamp that I got from last year’s summer mini catalogue (Christmas – peace, hope, love) for a Holy Communion card this year, it was fantastic.
