OnStage Perth - my presentation projects

A couple of weekends ago, I took part in the running of OnStage Perth - a training and stamping day for demonstrators that was part of a simultaneous Stampin' Up! event at 13 locations worldwide. It was my third and final event as a member of the Event Council, which provided me the opportunity to effectively work as a staff member for the event weekend, doing everything from setting up the day before, presenting on the stage, assisting in the running of the event on the day and packing down afterwards.

I am all at once bereft and relieved that my tenure on the council has finished. Whilst I SO loved being up close with so many of the Stampin' Up! staff and demonstrators, the monthly 6am conference calls and the frenzied activity of preparing for presentations in amongst work and life was pretty intense.

Today I'm sharing some projects from my presentation and display board at the event. I had the privilege of presenting a brand new suite of products that will precede the new Annual Catalogue in a special release available from next month. More details on that to follow, but for now, here are a few things I created with the very aptly named "Share What You Love" suite, a celebration of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and the company that has supported them for 30 years...

Thanks so much for stopping by to share in the Share What You Love Suite!

Thanks for stopping by to share in the joy of the Share What You Love suite with me! Stay tuned for upcoming details on how you can get hold of the array of beautiful products really soon!

Thoughtful Branches for August (and beyond!)

I've started this post about seven times and each time, I have deleted the first sentence. I have no words sufficient to explain and/or excuse my absence from here since June.

So please accept my grovelling apologies and allow me to share with you a card that I made using the Thoughtful Branches bundle - originally exclusively available during August, but now extended while remaining stocks last!

Stamps: Thoughtful Branches Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz Ink: Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Branches Thinlits, Layering  Circles Framelits,  Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Burlap Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamps: Thoughtful Branches Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz Ink: Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Branches Thinlits, Layering Circles Framelits,  Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Burlap Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

This card was one of the three offerings for my Tuesday club this past month. We made masculine cards in preparation for Father's Day next month. I was desperate to get ink on my Thoughtful Branches bundle and hoped that this would pass as masculine in order to fit with the theme.

What do you think, does it pass...?!

Tuesday Club happens in a local (to me!) church hall on the first Tuesday evening of each month and is designed as an opportunity to get/keep stamping! We make three cards around a pre-arranged theme and none of the cards are overly technical, nor do they employ any tricky techniques, so are more than suitable for the beginner as well as a more experienced stamper that just wants a reason to create on a regular basis.

Next month (next week!), we're getting festive with some brand new offerings from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue.

Won't you join us?

The best place to keep up with what's going on in terms of events and stampin' opportunities is over on my Facebook page, or feel free to contact me to book yourself a spot.

Do also feel free to get in touch with your best time management/life juggling tips. I fear for the future of my blog with my recent track record and an impending change to my non-stampin' work schedule that will leave me with less time again to focus on all things inky... *gasp*

A bit of luck, for you and for me!

So, I have a little something to share and it's kind of big and scary and almost wasn't something that I was going to give the light of day to. But I decided against that particular line of thinking, so here goes...

A couple of days ago, with all of one month left to qualify for next year's Stampin' Up!
Incentive Trip to the Mediterranean ( and having written it off as a possibility a good couple of months prior!), I had a good look at my reports and had a sniff of an inkling that with some serious effort and a goodly amount of luck, I might actually be able to pull this off. What it will require is results the likes of which I have not actually managed in a single month in all my previous nine years of being a demonstrator, but there's a first time for everything, right..?

With the previous Stampin' Up! trip that I was able to take my family on last year still fresh in my mind, with all the wonder that goes along with showing your children parts of the world that you never dreamed possible, I couldn't just sit back and miss out by a relatively marginal amount, when the alternative option is to give it a red hot go. So I've decided to run with the red hot go option, and if I don't get there, at least I won't be left wondering "what if...?" had I gone with the option of sitting back and doing nothing.

With the blessings of both my dear friend Marelle, who, having found herself in a similar situation a few years ago, came up with this cracker of an idea and also Stampin' Up!, who I contacted to ensure that everything was above board, I bring you...

100 Lucky Envelopes!

Here's how it works...

  • I have 100 envelopes numbered from 1 to 100
  • If you place an order of $100* prior to September 27th 2015, you get to open one of the envelopes (or I will open it for you over the phone/email if you're not ordering face to face!)
  • Each amount of $100* in your total means you get to open another envelope
  • If you order over $250*, you will get to choose Stampin' Rewards up to the value stipulated by your order total, AS WELL AS an envelope for every $100* in your total
  • Inside each envelope, you will find a prize voucher for a current Stampin' Up! product, valued between $8.50 and $169.95
  • The majority of the prizes are valued between $10 and $20. There is also a Product Bundle, a Project Kit and a Big Shot** in there somewhere
  • The envelopes will be opened in number order - the first person to order will open envelope number 1, the second person, envelope number 2 etc
  • Whilst I put the vouchers in the envelopes, I have no idea of the order of them, thanks to the mad casino shuffling skills of my handsome man, who took charge of that aspect and placed them in the box for me to number

Behold, video evidence...

  • Orders can be placed in a number of ways:
  1. Online (please use the hostess code GKR47REK at checkout, unless your order is over $250*, in which case, you qualify for Stampin' Rewards all on your own)
  2. By phone (0411 717 213).
  3. By sending me an email or using the contact form here on my blog
  4. At events, classes and workshops that I'm holding this month
  • Prizes will be ordered and distributed after September 27th, unless you order at a face to face workshop, in which case, your prize will be added to the workshop order at the time
  • If all the envelopes are opened by September 27th, that will pretty much guarantee me a berth aboard the Norwegian Epic in the Mediterranean in May next year. Crazy, but SO cool!
*before shipping
**if you already have a Big Shot, you can choose dies and/or embossing folders up to the value instead

To assist you in compiling your order, we currently have TWO amazing catalogues from which to make your selections - the Annual Catalogue, still relatively new and exceedingly lovely and the BRAND NEW and terribly festive Holiday Catalogue, just released yesterday! You might also like to browse the current Weekly Deals and Clearance Rack for bargains that will give you loads more bang for your hundred bucks!

I will also add that if you currently have an existing relationship with a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, do please continue to order through them! I have no desire to achieve my goal at the cost of friendships and noses out of joint. If however, you are already a customer of mine, or don't already have an existing demonstrator AND you're in the market for $100 worth of gear and a little (or big?!) gift for your trouble, please know that I'd be ever so grateful for your support!

Please also feel free to share my promotion around with non-stampin' friends or family. With Christmas just around the corner and birthdays all year round, our kits make great gift ideas and could help with getting some festive shopping out of the way nice and early :-)

So there it is, a crazy massive goal in my usual style of pulling out all the stops right at the death knock! Any other way would be totes boring, right?!

Thank you for considering helping me out by placing your $100 order before the 27th of this month! Please know that I thoroughly and humbly appreciate your support!

Party Planning, while I wait...

You might be familiar with one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, specifically, that we get to pre-order from new catalogues a whole month before the general stampin' population. Which is excellent, because it means we get to sniff and caress play with the new stuff in advance, use it to get ahead with class and event planning etc.

Which would all be fine and dandy if Australia Post had an flippin' sense of urgency about the whole thing. You might sense a slight bit of urgency on my part, and you'd be correct, because my pre-order box of goodness has already been a week in transit and I'm slowly running out of patience daylight hours for arrival today...

*sad face*

Instead of pacing and peering out my front window (ok, as WELL as pacing and peering out my front window...) I thought I would busy myself with a little bit of launch party planning, so that when my pre-order does show up, I'll have a pre-planned party with a whole bunch of excitable attendees (Psssssttt! That's you!) at the ready.

And so I bring you...

Contact me to book your spot today, and get ready to party, Holiday Catalogue style...!

PS. I had to pause the writing of this post right in the middle so that I could collect children from school, and what should show up just as I was walking out the door...?! I didn't have the energy to re-write the post now that my order is actually here, and I haven't had a chance to open the box, so technically, it's still accurate...kind of...   S x

New hostess set - a sneak peek at Best Thoughts...

Happy Monday!

I'm popping in today still on a bit of a high that was inspired by spending most of yesterday stamping with a bunch of gals from my stampin' team!

We had a session based around the Sneak Peek pre-order that us demonstrators get to take advantage of in the month before the new catalogues are released to the stamp lovin' public. Today I'm sharing a card that we made with one of the upcoming hostess stamp sets Best Thoughts...

Stamps: Best Thoughts (Hostess sneak peek stamp set - available June 2nd)   Paper: Perfect Plum, Watercolour Paper, Typeset Specialty DSP   Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive   Accessories: Gold Metallic Bakers' Twine, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Aquapainters, Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamps: Best Thoughts (Hostess sneak peek stamp set - available June 2nd) Paper: Perfect Plum, Watercolour Paper, Typeset Specialty DSP Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive Accessories: Gold Metallic Bakers' Twine, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Aquapainters, Stampin' Dimensionals

I stamp because I am entirely unable to draw or paint with any degree of expertise, so watercolouring is one of my favourite techniques for making me feel all artistically capable. It's a very forgiving and imprecise technique, and large images like this one can be done in a flash and with just a handful of colours.

My basic watercolouring method is to colour lightly all over using an aquapainter dipped in the lighter of two similar shades. Once dry, I go back and add deeper colour to areas where I figure there would be shadows.

Follow a more detailed tutorial on how I watercolour

A sliver of Typeset Specialty DSP, some twine and a splash of sparkle are all that's needed to finish the card off simply, leaving the coloured image as the focus.

We had such a wonderful day yesterday - 20 of us gathered at a local bowling club, stamping the afternoon away. So many of the team joined us in person for the very first time and it was great to watch them fit right in and be so warmly welcomed by the regular crew. I believe there is nothing more satisfying than identifying and finding your tribe - the feeling of being among friends and being crazy craft nerds sharing mutual interests is such a wonderful place to be.

An opportunity for you...

With a new catalogue mere days away from release, it's a great time to jump in and see if the demonstrator opportunity would be a good fit for you. With a start up cost of just $169 (which scores you $235 worth of products of your choice, INCLUDING items from the demonstrator exclusive Sneak Peek pre-order), it's a great way to get a swag of craft gear at an amazing price right off the bat, as well as all the ongoing benefits of being a demonstrator.

If you have any questions or concerns about the demonstrator opportunity, or would like to ask about trying it on for yourself, I'm happy to answer any questions - feel free to get in touch!

Retiring List update, share in some hostess dollars + leaving on a jet plane...!

It's been less than a week since the 2015 Retiring List went live and there's been quite the frenzy in that time, with a good many of the outgoing products are already completely sold out.

Here's an update of the stuff that's already gone...

Click on the image above to download a PDF of the sold out items (as at 24 April).

Click on the image above to download a PDF of the sold out items (as at 24 April).

There's still plenty left, much of which is going out with massive discounts!

Check out all the remaining retiring items.

The combined total of orders placed in my online store using this code (until 19 May) will share in the hostess dollars and score FREE product, chosen by me and posted at no cost to you! We have well and truly passed the minimum amount needed to qualify for hostess dollars, so there's definite free stuff to be had. Tell your friends - the more orders, the more hostess dollars to share around!

A further reason to place your retiring product order...

In case you need a reason, other than amazing and outgoing products at spectacular discounts AND the opportunity to share in new stuff, there's a brand new Annual Catalogue due out on June 3rd and you can score one sent to your door for FREE!

Place an order of $50 or more BEFORE MAY 4th and I'll pop you on my list for the new catalogue mail out (or hand delivery if you're super local/related to me!) and the BEST news is that the mail out is starting in mid-May, so you'll be among the very first to crack open the pages, sniff their hot-off-the-press newness and browse the bright and shiny new products within!

Already placed your order...? Then you're already on the list! I have already submitted catalogue orders for everyone who has placed an order of $50 since the beginning of the year, so if that's you, then I suggest you start stalking your postie towards the middle of next month...

Speaking of the new catalogue...

I'm off bright and early tomorrow morning to spend a few days with dear friends in Brisbane before heading to the Gold Coast next Wednesday to take part in this year's Inspire.Create.Share convention!

I can hardly wait to squeeze old and new stampin' friends, be inspired by amazing classes and presentations and most especially see new products in action and score my own copy of the upcoming catalogue!

Want to share in my convention shenanigans...? Follow my Facebook and Instagram profiles to be kept up to date with as much up to the minute gossip I can manage, without being entirely antisocial with my face in my phone the whole time...

I can't promise that any of the photos or updates will come close to matching this perfect representation of the excitement that being at a Stampin' Up! event generates...

The look on my gorgeous mum's face just captures the feeling perfectly! She's along for the ride again this year and isn't shy about getting up to all sorts of mischief herself...

Looking forward to reporting on all of our Gold Coast adventures!

Come and stamp a stack of stuff!

I have been quiet. At least as far as my blog is concerned. With summer holidays in full swing, I have been thoroughly enjoying time with my girls undertaking all kinds of summer holiday pursuits. Outings and sleepovers, swimming and sightseeing, visits to parks and movies and just hanging out together and with friends. It's been wonderful, and we still have two weeks until the school term starts.

I have also been busy in my craft room, playing with all kinds of loveliness from the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration promotion items, and I have created a Back to School event to share the love with local peeps!

So get busy covering the text books, labeling the pencils and buying the new lunch boxes, then join me the weekend after school heads back for some well-deserved stampy time!

No kids to send back to school...?! Join us anyway (and feel absolutely free to volunteer to assist with my pencil labeling....)

Can't wait to stamp with you!

It's Party Time and you're invited...

It's been quite the eventful month around these parts. Not *these* blog parts, clearly, but in the past month, I have completed the first semester of my return to tertiary level study, had almost three solid weeks of school holidaying with my sweet gals and been living in the middle of a David Attenborough-esque nature documentary, with two sweet duck families visiting our backyard in the past fortnight, a magpie popping in for daily visits and a swarm of buzzing bees taking up residence in a cavity wall at the back of our house.

Duck re-homing, swarm eradicating and magpie feeding aside, I've also been madly creating in preparation for this fabulous event that is now less than two weeks away!

All are welcome and I'd LOVE for you to join us for a full day of crafting with fellow Perth stampers and some special guests from both the interstate AND international arms of Stampin' Up!

Here are all the details you need:

Date: Saturday November 8th 2014
Time: 10am to 4pm
Venue: The Golden Nugget Room | Gloucester Park | 3 Nelson Crescent, East Perth
Cost: $70
Included: Stampin' Demonstrations, Displays, Make and Takes, Lunch

Registration for the event closes next Monday November 3rd, so if you want to join us on the day, be sure to contact me ASAP to reserve your spot!

Catalogue launch projects - get inspired...!

I had so much fun launching the brand new and fresh Annual Catalogue this past month with my lovely customers and stampin' friends!

The hardest part was narrowing it down to a few favourite products and projects - have you SEEN the delight contained among the 249 pages of this year's catalogue?!

I managed to do so, barely, and put together three projects that attendees at my launches completed, and that I also demonstrated at customer workshops this past month.

The BEST part?

I have created an 11 page pdf containing details of all of the projects, inclusive of product lists, step-by-step instructions and full size images.

If you attended one of the workshops, or placed an order through me during June or July, you'll want to check your email inbox for a little stampin' surprise...

If you're a member of my stampin' team, I have posted the file to our team Facebook Group.

If neither of the above apply to you and you'd like to be inspired by the projects, it's as simple as placing an order of $50 or more (not including shipping) through my online store before the end of July.

If you've been building a wishlist anyway (how could you NOT be...?), then it's a great chance to grab some new stuff that you've been eyeing off, plus some inspiration that you can go back to again and again.

OR, if you've been thinking about test driving the demonstrator opportunity, doing so this month will score you - along with all of the other fabulous benefits of being a demonstrator - the July Stampin' Inspiration pdf (plus others that I have planned on an ongoing basis) as part of my team of awesome stampin' chicks.

Visit my online store to start shopping, or feel free to contact me any time with your stampin' queries!

Scallop Tag Topper Punch class is here!

Hot on the heels of the Envelope Punch Board classes that I recently posted, (four spots left on March 24th!), I bring you the Scallop Tag Topper Punch class!

I'm a little  bit in love with these projects, not least because of the Fresh Prints DSP.  Lordy, I love that stuff!

Scallop Tag Topper Punch Class

Create three projects using this very nifty and versatile tool:

  • A card, using the Tag Topper Punch to create an embellishment
  • A gift box, using the Tag Topper punch to create this simple but effective project
  • A mini album, using the Tag Topper Punch to create the interesting and functional closure

The cost of this class will be $60, which includes the Scallop Tag Topper Punch itself. It will get its first awesome workout in every class project, then you'll have it to take home and continue on with when you leave.

Already own the Scallop Tag Topper Punch for yourself?  Contact me and we'll organise a way for you to join in the class too!

Join me on either of the following two dates to punch the night away:

  • Thursday March 27 at 7.30pm (RSVP no later than Tuesday 18 March)
  • Monday March 31 at 7.30pm (RSVP no later than Friday 21 March)

Places in the class are limited to six and payment is required in advance to confirm your spot, so you'll want to ensure you book early so as not to miss out.

Got a group..?

Gather a crew of four to six peeps and I'll gladly put a class on just for you guys.  I'll come to you, or you can bring your posse to my stampin' space at a time that works for us all.  Contact me to arrange a private class and we'll set it up!

Can't wait to stamp with ya!

Team stampin' extravaganza - the wrap up...

Feb event flyer_team-002.jpg

If you read my blog, subscribe to my mailing list or hang out with me on Facebook or Instagram, there's a good chance you heard rumblings of a stampin' event that I put on with six of my team last weekend.

The seven of us had been plotting and scheming, planning and organising, meeting and discussing plus, of course, stamping our little hearts out for a good couple of months in advance and the results - going by the atmosphere of the event itself and the feedback since, was a smashing success!

Here are some pictures of our lovingly pieced together display...

And here we are with a bodily representation of how we thought the day went :-)

Special mention must go to the lovely Miss Emma, Jen's pastry chef apprentice daughter, who baked 103 delicious cookies for the day (and stamped them too!)  The cookies have featured significantly in the feedback we've received, as one of the highlights of the day.

Also the delightful Priscilla, who although she is no longer officially a member of my stampin' team, is the most efficient and amazingly organised person I know, and when we asked if she could work her magic on the welcome desk as she has done at previous events, was all too happy to jump in.  Love ya, Pris!

What strikes me more than anything in revisiting this fabulous event, is that (with the obvious exception of my lovely mum!), these are gals that I would likely never have crossed paths with had it not been for Stampin' Up!, and what a tragedy that would have been!

One of the biggest blessings of my past eight years as a demonstrator has no doubt been the connections I've made with such incredible people, from demonstrators in my team, to customers at workshops and people who called to purchase one punch and ended up becoming wonderful friends.

A blessing, I tell ya!

If you're keen to add more blessings to your life in the form of like-minded friends, who will support you in all of your papercrafting nerdiness and understand the hand-flapping excitement of new stamping gear, I would vigourously encourage you to check out the demonstrator opportunity.

There's a good chance that it will be the best $169 you ever spent...

Lazy days + an invitation for you...

Having been firmly ensconced in school holidays mode and everything that it entails these past several weeks (think late nights, sleep ins, jammie days, lazy afternoons, friendly catch ups and lots of swimming), I've peeled myself away from my sloth-like existence to excavate the debacle that has been my pre-Christmas craft desk (no, really, did you SEE the image I posted on Instagram last week...?!) and prepare for the up and coming event of the stampin' year.

And guess what?  You're invited!

I would love you to join me and a bunch of my delightful stampin' team at our event to launch the incredibly gorgeous upcoming Occasions Catalogue and annual Sale-a-bration promotion.  It will be a Sunday afternoon very well spent, you can be sure, and with the kids back at school the week before, you will be well ready for some reward for all of the book list shopping, uniform fitting, pencil labelling and adhesive book covering shenanigans that you're likely to have endured in the previous weeks.

Or maybe that's just me....

Join us!  You'll be so glad you did.  RSVP details are at the bottom of the following invitation, but just to make it super simple, send me an email and let me know you'll be joining us and I'll send you all the details you need to confirm your spot.

Can't wait to Sale-a-brate with you!

Happy World Card Making day + 25 (no, 26!) extra reasons to be a hostess this month

It's the first Saturday in October, which means it's World Card Making Day!  As opposed to Regular Old Card Making Day that happens quite frequently at my place...

Stampin' Up! is offering prizes for folks who participate in this international day that celebrates the art of card making, and you've gotta be in it to win it!

Here are a couple of ways to take part:

  • E-mail a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin' Up! product on World Cardmaking Day to wcmd2013@stampinup.com.
  • Post a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin' Up! product on World Cardmaking Day on Instagram. Mention Stampin' Up! by typing @stampinup and use the hashtag #wcmd2013 in the description.

This contest is open to everyone - demonstrators, customers, friends, spouses, children . . . you get the idea. However, there are a few conditions:

  • You must be over the age of 18 to win a prize.
  • You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must feature a different card.
  • Contest will last all day on October 5, from 12:01 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Stampin' Up! will randomly select 100 winners from the North American markets to receive a Paper Pumpkin Kit and 50 winners from the South Pacific and European markets to receive the Naughty and Nice Rotary Stamp and Season of Style Designer Washi Tape (valued at $18.90 AUD/ $22.90 NZD).

A selection of pictures will be posted to Stampin' Up!'s World Cardmaking Day Pinterest Board and the winners announced in a later current update and on our Facebook page.

Here's my entry that you may have spied earlier today on my Facebook Page...

morning meadow 1.jpg

The use of Post-It notes allowed me to get away with barely more than a single layer of card stock in making this card - I simply lined up two Post-Its across the front of my card, leaving a space of about 4cm in between where I stamped and sponged to get the background image, thereby "masking" off the rest of the card and achieving the nice crisp lines.

You might recall a previous card of mine using the same technique in another simple, single layerd card.

If you would like further information on how I achieved this technique, please don't hesitate to contact me.

This card also constitutes the first inking of the gorgeous hostess stamp set Morning Meadow, one of many products in the catalogue available exclusively to workshop hostesses or those placing an order the qualifies for stampin' rewards.

On the subject of hostesses and stampin' rewards, October being the month that Stampin' Up! first opened for business 25 years ago, this month there are 25 extra reasons why you might consider being a hostess yourself.

For the month of October, host a workshop of  $400 or more and you'll qualify for an additional $25 in hostess dollars, bringing the freebie count to a minimum of $85.

Put simply, a morning or afternoon crafting with your mates and then a bunch of dollars to spend on whatever you like from the current catalogues.

Fun, yes?!

I have an additional reason to look at increasing my workshop schedule on top of the enjoyment of sharing my craft nerdiness love of creating, and that reason is because I am currently on track to earn the Stampin' Up! Grand Vacation for 2014(!!)

Each year, Stampin' Up! rewards demonstrators who meet certain goals within their business with a trip for two that is nothing short of mind-blowing.  I know this, because I was fortunate enough to earn the trip to Palm Cove for my handsome man and I back in 2007 and I have never had an experience like it.

Next year's trip is one that includes all of Stampin' Up!'s markets worldwide, so demonstrators from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the European markets will be cruising the Caribbean together in May.

Mind-blowing, yes?!

Luckily, the trip is earned by the sharing of stamping and Stampin' Up!, which is a passion of mine already, all I am in need of is a wider circle of folks to share it with.

Which is where you come in...

If you could see a way in which you could spare a couple of hours to gather some peeps so that I could entertain you by splashing some ink around (and have you splash some around yourselves), I would be truly appreciative.  It's guaranteed to be a fun morning/afternoon and you'll even have a hand made card to show for it at the end.

To book yourself a workshop, simply get in touch with me and we'll set up a date especially for you :-)

I'd love you for more forevers than I do already... ;-)

A flying visit with a large helping of gratitude and a side of incredulity...

Hello lovely friends!

I'm popping in for a really quick visit, which is partly what the "flying visit" refers to in the title of this post.  The other thing it refers to is the reality of my August and part of my September, which sees me flying all over Australia and also to New Zealand taking part in the Make a Statement Digital Tour for Stampin' Up! Australia.

I'm going to include an excerpt from the newsletter that I sent out to my customers earlier this month as it really sums up this incredible opportunity that I am so thankful to have been provided with...

Tomorrow morning just after dropping my sweet ones at school, I'll be hopping on a flight to Melbourne, where I'll be participating in the first of several stops of the Make a Statement Digital Tour that is heading around Australia and New Zealand this month and next.

Details of how you can join in a tour stop near you can be found further down in this newsletter, but the reason that I'm mentioning it up here at the beginning is really one of incredulousness that something as seemingly innocuous as becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator seven years ago, based on nothing more than a desire to own one of everything in the catalogue (the discount definitely featured heavily in my decision making process) could lead to an opportunity to fly around the country demonstrating a new software program to customers and demonstrators as part of a great team from the Stampin' Up! Australian office.

As a self-professed non-public speaker, being asked to demonstrate for the first time at a regional event several years ago very nearly had me running for the hills, but these days I hang out for the opportunity to be involved in any event possible and to be asked to take part in this one is a privelege of the most incredible kind.

This little story, as well as being an opportunity to share my excitement about the adventures that I'll be up to these next few weeks, is also a way of illustrating that the best things that have come of my decision to take up the demonstrator opportunity all those years ago are so much more than the expectations that I went in with.

I expected to expand my stash of craft gear and was happy to be able to do so at a generous discount, but I also expanded my friendship circle by large degrees and am fortunate to have found some amazing kindred spirits along the way. People who I count amongst my nearest and dearest, whose kids are great mates with my kids, whose husbands happily come along to team gatherings and play cricket in the park with the group and whose creativity and generosity inspires me no end. Also people who reside interstate and internationally who I would be most unlikely to have crossed paths with had our mutual love of all things stamps and ink not made those paths intersect.

Another happy side effect that I am so very grateful for is the one that now has me happy to be up on a stage - complete with a Britney Spears style microphone - presenting to anywhere between 50 and 500 folks at a time. I could never have envisaged that doing such a thing would be even remotely possible for me, but having been given the opportunity to do so has dismantled the confidence issues that I have had in the past and it's something that I now look forward to, with much less action in the knee-shaking department than before.

I am now at risk of having to break this little spiel into chapters, so I'll refrain from writing further, other than to say thank you for being part of this journey that I am so grateful for, however it is that you happen to be here, whether by turning up at a workshop once, or clicking a button on my blog to indicate that you'd like to receive my newsletter.

I appreciate you all so much and am grateful for your support of and interest in what I do.

It's now two weeks since I hopped on that plane to Melbourne and a week since I was in Sydney.  Tomorrow morning, I'm headed for Brisbane and will be taking over the part of the presentation that was handled by one of the lovely US staff who has since flown back to Utah.

I'm so incredibly excited (with moments of fluttery tumminess) to be involved in showing fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators and customers the wonders of MDS and the incredible array of My Digital Studio downloads to go along with it.  It's such a truly simple but powerful software and it really brings such exciting new possibilities to the world of craft and design.

Next stop after Brisbane is my own home town of Perth and I would dearly love to see a large room of friendly faces excited to discover the possibilities of MDS for themselves!

To register to attend, visit the registration page, where you will find all the details and have the opportunity to complete the registration process online.  For the incredibly reasonable price of $35, you will receive the full version of the software (valued at $24.95 and provided to you via email as soon as you register), half a day of training in basic techniques to get you off and running in digital design, plus all of the usual fun and frivolity that goes along with any Stampin' Up! event.

New Zealand peeps, your event is on September 7th and you can register for NZD$45 by visiting the registration page for the Auckland leg of the tour!

I'm off to practise my presentation again (and again and again) now, but wanted to leave you with a couple of layouts that I have completed along the way, using some pre-designed and co-ordinated My Digital Studio elements and the touristy pics I snapped on my phone during my travels so far.

Best of 25 years special offer + an invitation for you...

Hot on the heels of my previous post about the new Single Stamps offering, if one new promotion wasn't enough to get you all hot under your stampin' collar, how about another...?!

In celebration of their 25-year anniversary, Stampin' Up! are bringing back some favourite stamp images from the last quarter century and combining them into 11 sets, which will be released - one set per month - through until April 2014.

Along with some great classic images, each “Best of” set will also include a never-before-seen image.

Here are the details you need to know for this special celebratory event...

  • All Best of stamp sets will include 3-5 images, including a never-before seen image, and will be priced at $25.95.
  • While there will be a release of just one Best of stamp set per month (with a new theme each month) until April, all of the Best of sets will be available until April 2014 (while stocks last after their initial release month)
  • A new flyer will be released every month for each new Best of set - see them all here as they're released!
  • All Best ofstamp sets are available in Clear-Mount only and the Clear Blocks required for each stamp are listed on the flyer.
  • The stamp images may be sized differently from the original stamp sets.

To kick off the promotion, June brings us the Best of Flowers set, which you can see in detail by clicking on the flyer image below.

Personally, I'm a tad bit excited to get my hands on the sweet, miniature Upsy Daisy stamp and the beautiful hydrangea image that was previously only available in larger form as a hostess set is a winner too, I reckon  :-)

Start your Best of collection today...!

I also mentioned in my previous post about an upcoming event that you're invited to, and this is it!  Announcing the Make a Statement Digital Tour 2013.

With My Digital Studio still being a very new addition to the Stampin' Up! arsenal in Australia, I'm super excited that there is an event specifically aimed at this fabulous design tool!

Having had the opportunity to assist on the MDS booth at the recent Brisbane convention, I was heartened to see how many people gained a whole new understanding of, and excitement about this product after being given some basic instructions and simple information.

Sometimes the unknown aspect can be daunting, and although I'm very computer oriented myself, I know many who aren't, and whose initial reaction to a new piece of software would be to shy away and to place it immediately in the "too hard basket".

It's my understanding that this is why Stampin' Up! are offering this event - to blow away any misconceptions about difficulty of use and to allow everyone to stretch their digital muscles, regardless of their own perceived competency levels :-)

If you have an inkling - however tiny - that you might like to learn how to create your own digital products, from photo books, to co-ordinated party decor, cards, wall art and more, I would strongly encourage you to register to attend an event near you (Perth peeps, join me at the Perth event on Saturday August 24th - REGISTER HERE!)

Did I mention that your registration fee of $35 includes a copy of the full version of the software (valued at $24.95) plus a half day of training and activities?

You can find all the information about the events that are being offered around Australia on the My Digital Studio website.

Hope to see you there!

Bloomin' Marvelous again...

Last Sunday afternoon, on a stinking hot Perth day, almost 50 stampin' ladies (and one stampin' bloke - my lovely father-in-law who just came for the food!) gathered in blissful airconditioning for the purpose of launching the astoundingly beautiful Stampin' Up! Seasonal Catalogue!

Three of my fellow stampin' team members and I banded together to run the afternoon, which, according to the lovely feedback we received on the day itself and also since, was a fabulous event!

The sentiment on this card is aimed squarely at my gorgeous stampin' gals SJ, Natalie and Cathy, who worked together to produce stunning samples, delightful demonstrations, refreshing refreshments and an all 'round gorgeous afternoon.

This card is one of the samples that I provided for the display, created when I was in my Bloomin' Marvelous phase, a phase which yielded six cards altogether, the rest of which I'll be sharing over the next little while, along with the many other samples that I've been creating in recent times...

Mostly monochromatic with a touch of neutral and a splash of green, this card started out in my imagination as just a multi-pink floral background -  that was one of the first things I wanted to try with the little flower image - and the rest fell together as I went along, ending with the addition of the Primrose Petals Dahlia to finish things off :-)

The Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set is one of nineteen free products you can choose from with every $100 in your order total, or by hosting a $600 workshop during Sale-a-bration, which runs until March 22nd!  Contact me today if you'd like to partake in either of these options... ;-)

  • When adding a bow to your card, consider tying it out of a separate piece of ribbon and attaching it using a Glue Dot.  I wanted this one to sit perpendicular to the strip of ribbon across the front and I've never figured out how to tie them to sit that way naturally, so Glue Dots it is!  The bonus is that it also conserves your ribbon :-)
  • Experiment with layering your punches for different effects.  At first I envisaged the greeting on this card being inside an oval shape, but when I tried it out, I didn't like it.  In the end, I deemed the combination of the Wide Oval and Decorative Label Punches to be perfect :-)
  • Audition your Designer Series Papers!  I wanted a neutral background for this card, and found it in the Fan Fair DSP pack, despite the fact that none of the colours listed in that pack contain any of the other colours that I used in this card.  The washed out Crumb Cake pattern was exactly what I didn't know I was looking for!

At the beginning of this post, I mentioned a few of the gals in my stampin' team that worked together to produce our catalogue launch, but the best part is that they are part of a larger team, all of whom make up my downline, all of whom are fabulous, bringing multiple talents, skills and personalities to  the group, and the very vast majority of whom I had never met prior to beginning with Stampin' Up! almost seven years ago.

I now count these ladies amongst my very closest friends, such is the strength of our common stampin' bond, and I'm so lucky to have them in my life!  One of them has just left a short while ago after bringing lunch and a companionable chat to my day ward bedside as I sit here being infused with intravenous iron for most of the day - thanks Ali, you're an angel xo)

If stampin' is your thing, and spending time with other crazy stampin' ladies is what has been missing in your life, I would urge you to look into the demonstrator opportunity for yourself.

Pop back tomorrow for some compelling reasons you might like to...

Happy New {Catalogue} Year!!

So we're already 13 days into the new year, but with all the amazing goodness contained in the TWO new catalogues that were released at the beginning of the month, a fortnight long hangover is almost entirely understandable, right?!

If you follow my Facebook page, you'd have been aware that I was over in Bali for a wedding when the catalogues kicked off, and upon arriving home, I've been head down/bum up preparing for my catalogue launch tea parties, the first of which went off last Friday evening, the second, third and fourth of which take place tomorrow evening, Sunday afternoon and next Sunday afternoon respectively.  Throw in the recent Stampin' Up! Hearfelt Event and the obligatory school sports carnival that always happens at this time of year and it's been a busy ol' time at Klass HQ these past couple of weeks...

Speaking of my tea party catalogue launches, I have two places left at the final one on Sunday September 23rd, so if you're in the market for a stampingly fun afternoon, with your own copies of the two new catalogues to take home, plus as much tea in pretty cups as you can handle, let me know!  Cost per person is just $10.

And without further ado, behold the stars of the show (if you haven't taken it upon yourself to behold them several times already...), the Annual Catalogue and the Holiday Catalogue *sigh*.  It amazes me how Stampin' Up! manages to do it better every year...

If the online versions don't do it for you and you'd rather snuggle up with real life copies of the catalogues, let me know and I'll be sure to get one of each to you :-)

I'll be back soon with the proceeds of my new catalogue playtime sessions.  Yee-har!

Goodbye, Pocket Silhouettes

Since starting this 'last hurrah' series of cards using retiring stamp sets, I have been having such a lovely time and have vowed for the upcoming catalogue to make sure that I use my stamps a whole lot more while they're actually still current, rather than leaving it to a big emotional rush at the end!  I'm also vowing to take a lot more pictures of my creations, as I'm sure I made a lot more with this stamp set, but can only find a couple now...

Today I am saying goodbye to Pocket Silhouettes - a gorgeous set of tiny floral images and two sentiments, all in the same box!  Here is a bit of Pocket Silhouettes inspiration for your Thursday evening...

The centre of the three pictures above is of one of a set of cards that I demonstrated at a workshop on the weekend.  I made up four of these little "love notes" with matching stamped envelopes and popped them in a cellophane bag with a First Edition DSP backing and tied with a ribbon.  So cute :-)

The final one is my 'last hurrah' card, completed just this afternoon.  It's based on this card that I pinned on Pinterest some time ago, then re-visited today as inspiration.  I added some additional shading to my version and absolutely love how it turned out.  So much so that I'm even sadder to see the end of Pocket Silhouettes now... :-(

If you're also sad to see it on the retiring list, act now to make sure that you get hold of it for yourself.  Contact me to order your set while you can...

Registration for the Perth leg of the Heartfelt Events on August 25th closes tomorrow August 17th!  If you would like to join me, several members of my team and my guests for a fabulous day of stampin' and frivolity, be sure to let me know asap!

For more information on the event, see my previous post HERE...

Just for your information, I will be presenting one of the classes at the event, so I would love to see some familiar and friendly faces in the crowd to support/heckle/cheerlead while I'm up there doing my thing ;-)

Cheerio, Inspired by Nature...

Another lovely set that is retiring with this catalogue is Inspired by Nature - similar to Upsy Daisy in its silhoutte-y floral-ish-ness, but different enough to need it also.  A gal can never have enough flower stamps, after all ;-)

Here are some past cards using this pretty set...

The final card above is my last hurrah card with this set - made just about half an hour ago and also getting the retiring Stampin' Pastels and Hemp Twine in on the action ;-)

For information on how I achieved any of the techniques on these cards, or to order Inspired by Nature for yourself, please be sure to contact me!
