Goodbye, Pocket Silhouettes

pocket-silhouettes-last-hurrah-close.jpg

Since starting this 'last hurrah' series of cards using retiring stamp sets, I have been having such a lovely time and have vowed for the upcoming catalogue to make sure that I use my stamps a whole lot more while they're actually still current, rather than leaving it to a big emotional rush at the end!  I'm also vowing to take a lot more pictures of my creations, as I'm sure I made a lot more with this stamp set, but can only find a couple now...

Today I am saying goodbye to Pocket Silhouettes - a gorgeous set of tiny floral images and two sentiments, all in the same box!  Here is a bit of Pocket Silhouettes inspiration for your Thursday evening...

The centre of the three pictures above is of one of a set of cards that I demonstrated at a workshop on the weekend.  I made up four of these little "love notes" with matching stamped envelopes and popped them in a cellophane bag with a First Edition DSP backing and tied with a ribbon.  So cute :-)

The final one is my 'last hurrah' card, completed just this afternoon.  It's based on this card that I pinned on Pinterest some time ago, then re-visited today as inspiration.  I added some additional shading to my version and absolutely love how it turned out.  So much so that I'm even sadder to see the end of Pocket Silhouettes now... :-(

If you're also sad to see it on the retiring list, act now to make sure that you get hold of it for yourself.  Contact me to order your set while you can...

Registration for the Perth leg of the Heartfelt Events on August 25th closes tomorrow August 17th!  If you would like to join me, several members of my team and my guests for a fabulous day of stampin' and frivolity, be sure to let me know asap!

For more information on the event, see my previous post HERE...

Just for your information, I will be presenting one of the classes at the event, so I would love to see some familiar and friendly faces in the crowd to support/heckle/cheerlead while I'm up there doing my thing ;-)

Cheerio, Inspired by Nature...

inspired-by-nature-last-hurrah-close

Another lovely set that is retiring with this catalogue is Inspired by Nature - similar to Upsy Daisy in its silhoutte-y floral-ish-ness, but different enough to need it also.  A gal can never have enough flower stamps, after all ;-)

Here are some past cards using this pretty set...

The final card above is my last hurrah card with this set - made just about half an hour ago and also getting the retiring Stampin' Pastels and Hemp Twine in on the action ;-)

Farewell Fox & Friends...

lindsay-baby-shower-close

Another of my favourite and most used stamp sets that is on its way out is the adorably sweet and delightful Fox & Friends.  Perfect for cards of for all occasions, especially for kids and babies - at least that's where I have got most of my mileage out of it... ;-)

Here are some cards that I have made with Fox & Friends in the past, and the final one is my 'last hurrah' card :-)

So long Upsy Daisy...

upsy-daisy-resist-close

Time to take a stroll down memory lane and revisit some of the projects that I have made previously with some of the stamps that are currently residing on the retiring stamps list.

First up, Upsy Daisy - with the gorgeous silhouette image that can be used in so many ways and with so many techniques - from using markers for a multicoloured image, to shadow stamping and emboss resist.

The above card is one that I just actually made last night - a bit of a last hurrah, if you will...  I have long imagined Upsy Daisy  in conjunction with the First Edition Specialty DSP and the emboss resist technique, so I decided to drop everything and bring it to life as I thought of it :-)

Also on this card as well as the retiring list are the Soft Suede Striped Grosgrain, Confetti Cream cardstock, "Hello" sentiment from Pendant Park and Hemp Twine.

If you haven't sent through your retiring list yet, now is a good time to do so to ensure that you don't miss out on your favourites before they're gone forever...

Contact me today to place your order!

Having had an in-depth look at the retiring lists myself this past week, a couple of things have struck me:

  1. They're very long and comprehensive
  2. Based on point 1, it can be easy to overlook some items that you didn't realise were there, then along comes September and it's too late!

With this in mind, I have gone through the lists with a fine tooth comb - paying particular attention to the retiring accessories - and am going to list a number of items here that I think deserve a special mention...

stampin-spots STAMPIN' SPOTS (25% OFF)- As of September, Stampin' Spots will no longer be available in the colour collection colours.  These little one inch square ink pads are the perfect way to stamp on the go - instead of choosing which of your large ink pads to bring, bring them all!  Compact, and with the same ink as the larger pads, they're a great way to get a bunch of colours at a fabulous price! (Brights, Subtles & Regals - $28.46, Neutrals - $23.21)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ink-padINK PADS (UP TO 40% OFF: $7.17-$8.96) - I mentioned in my previous email that all the ink pads are listed as retiring due to a reformulation of the pad itself.  If you're happy with the current, woven-style of ink pad (and we all have been for six years already!), now is a great time to stock up on some colours, with some discounted by 40%, and many by 25%!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  ink-padsINK PAD BUNDLES (25% OFF) - Still on the subject of inkpads, the most economical way to get them all is to order the entire bundle of colour collection pads in one go.  Even more so now that they're 25% off!  Getting all ten ink pads from a collection in one shot works out to $7.21 per pad - a bargain in anyone's eyes... (Brights, Subtles & Regals - $71.21, Neutrals - $56.96)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
markers
INDIVIDUAL MARKERS ($5.95ea) - As of September, Stampin' Write Markers will no longer be available individually in every colour.  Approximately two thirds of the individual colours will be retiring, so if you have any holes in your marker collection, now is the perfect (and only!) time to fill them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

textured-12x12

TEXTURED CARDSTOCK - This lovely linen textured 12x12 cardstock will not be a feature of the upcoming catalogue, so if you love to work with it in your scrapbooking (or card  making!) you will need to stock up while you can.  Particularly on the current In-color collection (Pool Party et al), which is $25% off! (All In-colors - $17.21, Colour Collections - $22.95)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pastelsSTAMPIN' PASTELS (40% OFF - $28.17) - These were the central product in my very own demonstrator starter kit over six years ago, so it's a sad goodbye from me to this lovely, soft way of colouring.  So many techniques can be achieved with this fabulous colouring medium, and right now, they can all be achieved 40% cheaper!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

xmas-fabrics

CHRISTMAS FABRIC (75% OFF - $4.95!!) - Two sets of designer fabric (Deck the Halls and Candy Cane Christmas) are retiring out of this catalogue, and they represent the biggest savings to be had!  Score yourself some Christmas fabrics (three co-ordinating fat quarters per pack) for just $4.95 each!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
cropadile
CROP-A-DILE (25% OFF - $41.21) - Looking as though it would be more at home in hubby's tool shed that your stampin' stash, this is a great heavy duty tool with several fabulous features.  It sets different sized eyelets with a minimum of fuss, but my absolute favourite feature is the way it can punch holes in some seriously tough materials (chipboard, tin....) and in two different sizes too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

punches

PUNCHES (UP TO 40% OFF) - This is just a small selection from the array of punches that we will be saying goodbye to at the end of the month (or sooner!), many of which have been our faithful favourites for several catalogues now.  Many of them are 25% off, with the Doily Triple Layer Punch going for a steal at 40% off, so bulk up your punch collection at a bargain today!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
wide-striped-grosgrain
RIBBONS (UP TO 25% OFF) - This catalogue sees the last of the availability of several styles of ribbon - the Wide Striped Grosgrain (pictured left) the Satin Ribbon and the 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.  Available in a great range of colours and with 25% off several of the colours of Striped Grosgrain, it's a great time to add some ribbony goodness to your stampin' stash!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

simple-alpha-die timeless-type

ALPHABET DIES (25% OFF) - I posted a scrapbooking layout on my blog the other day featuring pretty much all of the alphabets that I own - all of which are retiring with this catalogue!  The Simple Letters set of Bigz dies (left) is a fabulous, large set of letters - great for bold page titles and is going out for 25% off.

The matching set of Simple Numbers is also retiring and is similarly perfect for both scrapbooking layouts and also all those "age" birthday cards that you need to do :-)

 The Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlits (right) is another fantastic set of alphabet dies, also inclusive of numbers and punctuation.  This has been an absolute go to set of mine - smaller in size than Simple Letters, it is great for scrapbooking and card making alike.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
in-colors
2010-12 IN-COLORS (UP TO 40% OFF) - As is the case every year, it is time to say goodbye to the In-colors that have served us so well since they arrived two catalogues ago.  As you will have seen in the introduction, a number of the ink refills have already sold out, but you can still stock up on ink pads, cardstock (A4 and 12x12, plus textured), markers, Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Glimmer Brads and Designer Series Paper - much of it at 25-40% off!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you  have yet to collate your retiring list, I urge you to do so as soon as possible to ensure that you don't miss out on your must have items!  Contact me asap to place your retiring products order!

We are family - get up everybody and sing! (or purchase retiring alphabets - your choice...)

we-are-family-layout-close-2

Some of the things that I am saddest to see on the Retiring List are the alphabets - both stamps and Bigshot dies.  I love my alphabets and out of all the stamps that have ever retired, my alpha sets are the ones that I hold onto the longest!

Three of my go-to alphabets are heading into the wild blue yonder with the outgoing catalogue -the Just Perfect Alphabet stamp set, the Simple Letters Alphabet Bigz Dies and the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlits.

Two of them got a guernsey on this scrapbook page that I completed some time ago and have had stashed ever since...

we-are-family-layout

Also featuring both on this layout and the Retiring Accessories List are the little chipboard house from On Board Merry Medley, which I have renovated with the help of some little Scallop Edge Punch shingles, some Neutrals Patterns DSP weatherboards, a Riding Hood Red Word Window Punch front door and a Basic Pearls door knob.  The little cloud - also from the On Board Merry Medley set - has been provided with additional fluffiness by way of some White Embossing Powder.

we-are-family-layout-close-1

The scene itself sits on a Baja Breeze circle of cardstock, which was cut with the retiring Circle Scissors Plus, and grass made out of some of the Pear Pizzazz striped DSP from the retiring 2010-2012 In-color Patterns DSP.  I will be quite sad to see the end of Pear Pizzazz, as it has been my go to pale green for the past two years (my apologies to Certainly Celery...)

SARAH'S SCRAPPIN' TIPS

  • Keep it simple and allow your photo's to be the stars of the show
  • Use sketches from magazines or online sources as inspiration.  It is a rare (albeit very exciting!) occasion that I start a layout without having been inspired by one I have seen somewhere.  There is nothing more disheartening than staring at a large, blank sheet of 12x12 and wondering where on earth to start
  • If you're like me, you scrapbook much less frequently than you would like.  One of my reasons is that I build it up to be a much bigger project in my head than it ever turns out to be.  My advice? (and I'm learning to take this myself..)  - just do it!

I have uploaded an updated copy of the Retiring Accessories List, as - believe it if you will - some items have completely sold out in the two days since its release.  If there's anything that you have been putting off ordering, my best advice would be to delay no longer and contact me today with your retiring list order while your favourites are still available!

Time to say goodbye...

Click HERE  first for musical accompaniment, then return to this window...

It's that time of the year, when thoughts turn to the new Stampin' Up! catalogue and all the beauty that it contains (and my sleep turned into thoughts of the new catalogue, because as a demonstrator, I got to see it as of midnight last night - WOOT!) but before we can entertain ideas of all the brand new fabulousness that is headed our way in just one short month, we must first acknowledge (and purchase while we can!) all those stamps and accessories whose innings' are coming to an end this month...

And with that, I bring you the retiring lists...

Some important things to note...

  • All the current Classic Ink Pads are listed, which is not because all the colours are retiring, but because there is a new improved style of ink pad coming with the next catalogue.  Some of the retiring style of ink pad are discounted, so if you're in the market for some new colours, now is a great time to stock up!
  • The 2010-2012 In-colors (Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush and Blushing Bride) are all on their way out, so if you love them, now is the time to get them - cardstock, inks, markers, brads, patterned designer series paper and ribbon - it's all going, so stock up today!
  • The retiring hostess sets are still only available to hostesses who host a qualifying workshop ($300 or more), so if you've missed out on any of your favourites from this catalogue, contact me today to schedule a retiring list workshop at your house and grab your retiring hostess sets while you still can!
  • ALL PRODUCTS ON THE RETIRING LIST ARE AVAILABLE ONLY WHILE STOCKS LAST, SO DON'T WAIT TO ORDER YOUR FAVOURITE OUTGOING PRODUCTS.  CONTACT ME TODAY TO PLACE YOUR ORDER!

Can't swing your own workshop in August...?  Come to one of mine!  I will be holding workshops on the following dates to highlight some of my favourite outgoing products and let you play with them for what might be the very last time...!

Friday August 10th - 7.30pm

Friday August 17th - 7.30pm

The cost of the workshop will be $10 (payable in advance and credited back to any order over $50 placed on the night) and places at each workshop will be strictly limited to SIX.

To reserve your place at the workshop date of your choice, be sure to contact me asap!

So as we wave goodbye to some of our old friends, I will be posting some fond farewell samples of some of my favourite outgoing stamps and accessories, as well as showing you a selection of sneak peek projects to whet your appetite for all the promised pants-wetting excitement of September!

Stay tuned...
