Fun banner card - saying goodbye to three favourites!

I have LOVED the Oh Hello stamp set since it arrived a couple of catalogues ago. It has always been referred to as "Air Hellair" in my classes and workshops, you know, what the Queen would call it if she were a stamper.

And who knows, perhaps she is.

But I digress...

Oh Hello (woodmount at 40% off!) is on the retiring list, along with Hearts a Flutter  (woodmount and clearmount both on sale!) and Pennant Parade (woodmount and clearmount both on sale!) - all but one of the stamp sets used to create this fun and very on-trend thank you card.

Banners are the new black at the moment, and there are SO many fun ways to create them, both in real life and on a sweet card.

This one was for a student teacher in my small girl's class last year (you can see three of the other teacher appreciation cards I made last year here, here, here and here), so it's a larger than standard size - a whole A4 sheet folded in half forms the base, which leaves loads of room for cute flags and banners hanging from some twine.

More of the retiring list products have sold out and there's only two seeks to go until everything is gone for good, so if you haven't got your must-haves yet, don't delay, shop today!

Stampin' Supplies

Mother's Day + a fun MDS gift idea

I had a truly lovely day on Sunday - celebrating with the little ladies that call me mum and the two ladies that I am fortunate enough to have as mums in my own life, my precious mum and my gorgeous mother-in-law.

The day started early, with a sweet breakfast of tea and vegemite toast in bed, made entirely by small hands as my nightshift worker husband slumbered beside me.  He was awake soon enough though, as I was excitedly showered with sweet crafty gifts and cards that had been smuggled home from school the week before and stealthily stashed away from prying mummy eyes.

We visited both Nanny (my mum) and Mama (handsome man's mum) later in the day, bearing this card for each of them...

Having recently acquired the Bitty Butterfly punch, I was excited to use it in a way that was inspired by an example in the current Seasonal Catalogue - page 38 for those of you playing along at home ;-)

And just because I want to use every opportunity and significant event as an excuse to bust out some MDS, I also whipped up a cute and cheeky bit of personalised home decor for my lovely mum...

This is an exclamation that Nanny attaches to pretty much any situation, be it in amazement, frustration, excitement, delight or otherwise, and it's something that she's known for in several of the circles that she moves in.

I'm pleased to report that she loved it and it now sits happily on her recently and beautifully styled bookshelf :-)

Keep an eye out for a quick how to video on some simple techniques that I employed to create the framed image - coming your way soon...!

Be still my fluttering heart...

A couple of weeks ago we were invited to a gorgeous engagement party at a beautiful Perth yacht club on a balmy Sunday evening.

Such a lovely occasion called for an equally lovely card, and there are few stamp sets lovelier than Hearts a Flutter, particularly when you take into account the matching Framelits (discounted and coordinated product bundle, anyone...?!  Ask me for details... ;-))

Stamps:    Hearts a Flutter, Sweet Essentials    Paper:    Pool Party, Basic Black, Primrose Petals, Naturals White, More Amore Specialty DSP    Ink:    Whisper White Craft Ink, Basic Gray    Accessories:    Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Neutrals Buttons (Basic Gray), Whisper White Embossing Powder, Stampin' Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals

This was my first inking of the stamp set, and my first go with the Framelits too, and I can see them both becoming firm favourites.

Am I the only one that gets all goose-bumpy at the cutting perfection of the large heart shaped Framelit around the edge of the pretty, lacy heart stamp?  Surely not...

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIP:

  • Coloured cardstock, very thinly cut, makes for perfectly co-ordinated "thread" in your buttons :-)
  • A Post-it note is your best friend when trying to ensure that a Framelit doesn't move during the cutting process.  Stick one across the Framelit and the stamped cardstock to hold them in place as they go through the Bigshot

The Hearts a Flutter stamp set and matching Framelits, along with the More Amore Specialty Designer Seriespaper that you can spy in the background can be found on page 11 of the Seasonal Catalogue and can be ordered by the simple process of getting in touch with me ;-)
