Creation Station blog hop - Endless Birthday Wishes

The fortnight has rolled around again, and I'm back with another project highlighting new products from the newly released Annual Catalogue, as part of the Creation Station Blog Hop.

This time around, I'm sharing a card that I made using the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set. Apologies to those stampers who might be visiting from North America or Canada - I understand that this set is not new for you at all, having been released as a promotional stamp set previously, if I'm not mistaken. For us here in the South Pacific, it's BRAND new and terribly exciting. Or perhaps that's just me, great big sucker for a stamp set with cute greetings that I am...

Creation Station blog hop - one for the fellas

It's time for another Creation Station blog hop and this time around, we're celebrating the blokes! It's coming up to Father's Day in the US, so you'll see a bunch of Father's Day themed projects on the blogs of the other team gals, but seeing as we have a few months to go until we officially celebrate the dads in this part of the world, I thought I'd provide some general blokey inspiration...

We're also celebrating the release of the brand new Annual Catalogue just last week, filled with amazing new products and fabulous inspiration, including the I Think You're Great stamp set that I used on this card.

I have always found it much harder to stamp for fellas than I do for the ladies, so I tend to keep it fairly simple and let the colours and basic shapes provide the masculine factor. In this card, I combined Delightful Dijon - a brand new in-color - with Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon and Pumpkin Pie, and a strip of the diagonal striped paper from the Typeset Specialty DSP. That stuff goes with everything!

I created the hollow star by sending two different sizes of the Star Framelits nested together through my Big Shot, and continued the star theme with a small smattering of star shapes punched out of the Confetti Stars Punch.

I'm a big fan of the current 'cluster' trend in card making - elements bunched together in an area of the card with lots of 'white space'. One of the ways I like to ground my cluster is by partially embossing the background, which I did here with the Chevron embossing folder - another great products for use in masculine themed projects.

Have you managed to settle on some favourites from the new Annual Catalogue yet...? I'm still experiencing a bit of overwhelm, and just as I think I've nailed down my new favourites, I'll see something amazing on a blog or website somewhere and my wish list prioritisation is all out of whack again!

Send your new catalogue wish list into a tailspin by checking out the rest of the stops on today's blog hop. You can head backwards to Kathy Kartak or forwards to Sara Levin.

New catalogue sneak peek + some fun new friends

The new catalogue is mere weeks away now and today I'm popping in to share a peek of some of the gorgeous new products as well as to introduce you to some new cyber-stampin-friends that I've made in recent times...

A few weeks back, I was contacted by one of the gals from The Creation Station, asking if I'd like to come on board and participate in their fortnightly blog hop. I'm a huge fan of card challenge and inspiration sites, so the opportunity to be part of a group providing an organised trail of inspiration on a fortnightly basis to stampers across the world was something I jumped on immediately!

This is the first time I'm playing along and the theme this time around is to use something from the new catalogue sneak peek, which works out perfectly, since my brand new box of awesomeness just landed on my porch during the week.

So with that, I bring you my maiden voyage as a member of The Creation Station team...

Weekly Deals and + new Sale-a-bration products

The new Weekly Deals are available for the week, and if you're a fan of embossing folders and beautiful quality ribbon, you're in luck...

The Mosaic Madness stamp set is also on offer as part of this week's deals, along with the co-ordinating Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, so both of these guys came out to play this morning.

I recently messed around with combining Crumb Cake cardstock with coloured ink - something I haven't experimented with much at all - and I loved the result. So with this small victory in mind, along with the inspiration provided by this gorgeous card using this same combination of stamps and embossing folder (do yourself a favour and stay to read the post that accompanies the card over at Kimberly's blog), I Stamp-a-ma-jigged my way to this card...

Stamps: Mosaic Madness, Hi There   Paper: Naturals White, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Bushing Bride   Ink: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Early Espresso   Accessories: Big Shot, Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Early Espresso 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, Tea Lace Doilies, Pearl Basic Jewels, Sticky Strip

The whole look sort of reminds me of an argyle type sweater pattern. Perhaps that's just me being overly influenced by the beautiful, drizzly autumnal day that we have over here in the West today. It's a welcome break from what has felt like a long, hot summer, and I'm hopeful that it sticks around...

New Sale-a-bration redemption items

With the Blendabilities news that was released last week, it was anticipated that there would be extra demand on the remaining FREE Sale-a-bration items, and as such, all redemption items (with the exception of the stamp sets) were switched to a 'while supplies last' status.

To help alleviate any inconvenience this may cause, there have been some new products made available to redeem for free during these final weeks of Sale-a-bration.

Click on the flyer below to see the new products that have been added to the Sale-a-bration redemption offerings, and don't forget that Sale-a-bration itself finishes up at the end of the month, so you'll need to make sure to get your qualifying orders in by then...!

Blendabilities Discontinued

Last week, Stampin' Up! announced that they had turned off all of the Blendabilities product codes in the ordering system while they investigated a quality issue that had resulted in the return of an increasing number of sets of the markers due to drying out.

In a further update this week, due to the nature of the defect, Stampin' Up!  have concluded that difficulties, dissatisfaction and product returns will only become more widespread.

The manufacturer is unable to correct the problem in a manner that Stampin' Up! are certain would meet their high quality standards and provide them with a stable, long-term solution. Therefore, after a great deal of deliberation and in order to prevent further disappointment, the Blendabilities product line has been discontinued.

Questions?

Q: Will the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad Refill (item #133456) still be available for purchase?
A: Yes. I am SO happy about this news - Memento has become my go-to black ink!

Q: What are the quality problems with this product?
A: When the tip is welded to the barrel, the welding process can leave microscopic (invisible) holes in the marker tip. This leads to accelerated evaporation of the alcohol in the ink.

Q: Are all Blendabilities markers defective?
A: No. Most Blendabilities markers work as intended. I have almost all of the sets and have never personally experienced a problem with any of them, and neither have I been alerted to any issues that my customers have had.

Q: What if I have purchased Blendabilities Markers that are defective?
A: If you purchased your markers through me, please get in touch for assistance. If your markers were purchased through another demonstrator, you will need to contact them.

Happier news - birds and lemons

Back in January, I shared some cards that I had created on the request of Stampin' Up! for inclusion in a Product of the Week showcase that would be running throughout Sale-a-bration. I have neglected to share a second set of cards that was part of the same promotion, this time using the A Happy Thing stamp set.

This is probably the last set that I would have chosen for myself, but the great thing about an assignment such as being asked to provide cards using a designated stamp set, is that it provides a shove out of your comfort zone like no other...!

I got out my trusty watercolouring tools for the first two cards and absorbed myself in layering (and layering, and layering!) colours using Watercolor Paper, Aquapainters and ink pads.

(Follow a tutorial on how I watercolour)

Stamps: A Happy Thing (SAB), Gorgeous Grunge  Paper: Soft Seude, Naturals White, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Typeset Specialty DSP, Flower Pot DSP, Watercolor Paper  Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive  Accessories: Big Shot, Chalk Talk Framelits, Aquapainters, Natural 7/8" Cotton Ribbon, Early Espresso 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, Linen Thread, Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamps:   A Happy Thing (SAB)   Paper:   Soft Seude, Crumb Cake, Wa tercolor Paper, Park Lane DSP     Ink:   StazOn Jet Black, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Sky, Marina Mist,    Accessories:   Aquapainters, Venetian Crochet Trim, Early Espresso Baker's Twine

For the final card (my favourite, incidentally), I did use Blendabilities, but a similar effect could be achieved with the watercolouring technique as outlined in my tutorial. As long as you can produce the light and shade that makes it look as realistic as possible, you're on a winner :-)

Stamps:   A Happy Thing (SAB)   Paper:   Soft Seude, Whisper White,      Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Suede   Accessories:   Big Shot, Circles Collection Framelits, Chevron Embossing Folder,   Stampin' Blendabilities (discontinued) Essentials Wooden Elements, Linen Thread, Stampin' D imensionals

Just for fun, here's another technique that lends itself well to the A Happy Thing stamp set. Check out this video from Stampin' Up! on masking using this image...

Last minute deals...!

This week has gotten away from me in many more ways than one, but particularly where Weekly Deals are involved!

We're due to have a whole new sets of deals go live tomorrow morning and I've yet to share the current week's ones with you all, but there are a handful of hours still to take advantage of them before they click over, so here goes...!

Several of my favourite products make an appearance in this week's deals, and two of them went into the making of this card...

Stamps: Label Love, Dictionary, And Many More, Six Sided Sampler Paper: Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White Ink: Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral Accessories: Bitty Banners Framelits, Chevron Embossing Folder, Artisan Label Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Linen Thread, Tea Lace, Paper Doilies

Stamps: Label Love, Dictionary, And Many More, Six Sided Sampler Paper: Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White Ink: Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral Accessories: Bitty Banners Framelits, Chevron Embossing Folder, Artisan Label Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Linen Thread, Tea Lace, Paper Doilies

The inspiration for this card came from one that was posted on the Stampin' Up! blog back in October last year, which I came across in searching for inspiration for the Artisan Label Punch. Google is your best friend when you're on the lookout for inspiration involving a particular stamp set or product - there are so many clever stampers out there and I often feel as though I don't have enough hours in the day to try out all the amazing techniques and projects that I find out there!

If you follow the link to look at the inspiration card, you will notice that the layout is where I gleaned the inspiration, then I added some partial embossing in the background, and changed the colours and greeting to suit my needs and likes.

I fully encourage you to CASE (Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit) different inspiration that you find around the interwebs, particularly when you're feeling a case of stampin' slump or designing doldrums.  I find that borrowing an idea - either completely or partly - is a great way to reinvigorate myself when I'm feeling less than inspired, just be sure to always remember to credit your source of inspiration if you're posting your creations online, it's the polite thing to do :-)

Just a couple of hours left of the current deals, so if you're inspired to get 20% off your faves this week, you'll want to be quick.  Click on the Weekly Deals image up above, or check out the funky Weekly Deals slideshow going on on my sidebar over there --->  Just wait for your deal of choice to slide on in and click to head directly to it in my store!

As always, be sure to get in touch if you're after further detail on anything you see in today's post.

Weekly Deals - Favourite Framelits and more...

choose happiness labels close.jpg

This week's deals are off and running with some great offers for everyone and some of my favourites available at 25% off...

The Labels Collection Framelits were a revelation to me when they arrived on the scene a couple of years ago.  They were the first Framelits ever offered by Stampin' Up! (kicking off a long line up of fabulous ones ever since) and with an array of nested sizes in the set, they are still one of my go to cutting options when I need a sweetly shaped focal point for a project....

Stamps: Choose Happiness, Papillon Potpourri, Dictionary, Gorgeous Grunge Paper: Naturals White, Park Lane Designer Series Paper, Whisper White Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede Accessories: Labels Collection Framelits, Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs Embossing Folders, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Old Olive Blendabilities, Calypso Coral Blendabilities, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, Venetian Crochet Trim, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Pearl Basic Jewels

Stamps: Choose Happiness, Papillon Potpourri, Dictionary, Gorgeous Grunge Paper: Naturals White, Park Lane Designer Series Paper, Whisper White Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede Accessories: Labels Collection Framelits, Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs Embossing Folders, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Old Olive Blendabilities, Calypso Coral Blendabilities, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, Venetian Crochet Trim, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Pearl Basic Jewels

I've used two sizes of the Labels Framelits on this card, the top one turned perpendicular as opposed to nesting inside of the larger one underneath.  I love this as an option, as it provides the opportunity to embellish with some pretty trim behind, in this case, a short length of the gorgeous Venetian Crochet Trim and some Early Espresso Baker's Twine tied in a bow.

On the subject of Baker's Twine, I sometimes take issue with the fact that the ends of it can tend to have a mind of their own, so I came up with a way of taming the flyaway ends...

I sandwiched each loose end of the twine between two of the middle sized Pearl Basic Jewels -being adhesive backed, they stick to the twine and sort of also to each other to form a little round pearly ball that both weighs down the crazy end bits and look pretty and decorative all at the same time.

It's the little things...

Another of the little details that I love on this card is the decorative scalloped edge, achieved with a combination of the Large Scallop Edgelit - also one of this week's deals - and the lacy Delicate Designs embossing folder...

The new and fabulous Stampin' Blendabilities got a guernsey on this card too.  I have always loved to colour in, watercolouring being my previous method of choice, but the arrival of the Blendabilities has added an exciting new avenue to explore and I have been thoroughly enjoying doing so...

The subtle blending that can be achieved with the Blendabilities make my heart happy and it's so easy to replicate.

I am planning some Blendabilities sessions, so keep an eye and an ear out for those and plan to join me for some colouring therapy soon!

Make a plan also to grab any of the current deals that are on offer - before next Tuesday while they're 25% off!

Hello there, Work of Art!

One of the most fun and least structured stamp sets in this latest catalogue is Work of Art, a series of brush-like swooshes and splodges, combined with a couple of words and providing a massive array of arty possibilities.

This is a card that came together simply with some of my favourite colours of ink, a gold embossed greeting from my favourite hostess stamp set - Hello There - an embossed background and a smattering of sequins.

Stamps: Work of Art, Hello There (hostess) Paper: Crisp Canteloupe, Whisper White Ink: Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Canteloupe, So Saffron, Versamark   Accessories:   Chevron Embossing Folder, Gold Embossing Powder, Sequin Trim

Stamps: Work of Art, Hello There (hostess) Paper: Crisp Canteloupe, Whisper White Ink: Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Canteloupe, So Saffron, Versamark Accessories: Chevron Embossing Folder, Gold Embossing Powder, Sequin Trim

Simple, effective and easily produced in bulk, which is a wonderful thing, since I sent this card out with copies of the catalogue that I posted to some of my customers recently (want one?  Get it HERE!)

To change it up a little, I also made some using alternative colours of cardstock and a different embossing folder - same but different...

Stamps:    Work of Art, Hello There (hostess)    Paper:    Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White    Ink:    Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Canteloupe, So Saffron, Versamark    Accessories:    Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Gold Embossing Powder, Sequin Trim

Despite the brand new offering of In-colors with this new catalogue, I am still (clearly!) entirely unable to drag myself away from the ones that were introduced last year. I can't promise there won't be a bit of a mutiny when the time comes for these babies to retire...

But for now, I choose to remain in the present, where they are happily still available, along with all of the other deliciousness that has landed with the new catalogue.

Have you checked it out yet...?

A parade of petals, the final day of Sale-a-bration and the end of the Birthday Bash!

I can hardly believe that after two months of freebie fun and frivolity, we're staring down the barrel of the final day of Sale-a-bration for 2014.

There has been a fabulous array of offerings this year and I've given many of them a good going over, but I might have to say that my favourite has been the Petal Parade stamp set. Truly something for everyone - the retiring list is here!

retiring-image-2013.jpg

Whilst it's almost two weeks since the Brisbane Stampin' Up! convention finished up (which you would know all about if you've been following  my Facebook page :-)), my little family and I stayed on for another week or so spend time with gorgeous friends who moved away from Perth almost three years ago.

It was a fabulously relaxing and fun-filled time, but as all good things must, it came to an end this weekend just gone, which was a long weekend in WA as luck and accidental planning would have it, so we had an extra day to re-group before returning to work and school.

So I'm back in my little stamping room, somewhat more rugged up than I was last time I was in here, and a good many stampin' things have been going on in my absence, not least of which is the 2013 Annual Catalogue Retiring List!

With less than a month to go until the all new Annual Catalogue is released into the hands of Aussie Stampin' Up! fans everywhere (we got one at convention, so mine is decidedly dog-eared already...), this month sees us say farewell to a good many items that won't be part of the Stampin' Up! product parade come the end of this month (or sooner if they sell out first!)

Many of the items are reduced and some have already sold out (that will teach me for going on a holiday at retiring list time...!)

To check out the items that will retire from the current Annual Catalogue, click on the links below:

STAMPS

ACCESSORIES

By far the easiest way to shop from the retiring list is to head on over to the Retiring Products section of my online store, where you will know immediately if something is still in stock by virtue of the fact that it will still be listed in the store!

So if any of your favourite items are listed, I would encourage you to hop to it - products are only available while stocks last.

Don't miss out!

One of the stamp sets on the retiring list that was one of my absolute must haves when it first appeared in a mini catalogue a good couple of years ago now is the Aviary stamp set.

aviary

Aviary - Wood Mount  •  Aviary - Clear Mount

Sweet little birdcages and a selection of birds to inhabit them - adorbs!!

Here is a card that I made with this set for a precious friend's birthday just a couple of months back...

I'm a bit gutted to see that the Tiny Tags (wood mount/clear mount) stamp set and Jewelry Tag Punch that also make an appearance on this card are retiring too.  They are very much "go-to" items for me... :-(

Of course, it goes with saying that the lovely Fan Fair Designer Series Paper is going too - the way the DSP does every year (although not always at 40% off!  Get some...!!)

If you have any questions about the retiring list promotion or todays' card, please don't hesitate to get in touch :-)

Mother's Day + a fun MDS gift idea

I had a truly lovely day on Sunday - celebrating with the little ladies that call me mum and the two ladies that I am fortunate enough to have as mums in my own life, my precious mum and my gorgeous mother-in-law.

The day started early, with a sweet breakfast of tea and vegemite toast in bed, made entirely by small hands as my nightshift worker husband slumbered beside me.  He was awake soon enough though, as I was excitedly showered with sweet crafty gifts and cards that had been smuggled home from school the week before and stealthily stashed away from prying mummy eyes.

We visited both Nanny (my mum) and Mama (handsome man's mum) later in the day, bearing this card for each of them...

Having recently acquired the Bitty Butterfly punch, I was excited to use it in a way that was inspired by an example in the current Seasonal Catalogue - page 38 for those of you playing along at home ;-)

And just because I want to use every opportunity and significant event as an excuse to bust out some MDS, I also whipped up a cute and cheeky bit of personalised home decor for my lovely mum...

This is an exclamation that Nanny attaches to pretty much any situation, be it in amazement, frustration, excitement, delight or otherwise, and it's something that she's known for in several of the circles that she moves in.

I'm pleased to report that she loved it and it now sits happily on her recently and beautifully styled bookshelf :-)

Keep an eye out for a quick how to video on some simple techniques that I employed to create the framed image - coming your way soon...!

Sent with love + a quick MDS how to video

sent-with-love-group.jpg

It's terribly remiss of me not to have dedicated a post to this little special sooner, but with so much going on at Stampin' Up! in recent times, I'm afraid I've rather neglected to tell you about the Sent with Love special offer!

So I'm doing it with gusto today with a set of five co-ordinated note cards and envelopes featuring the Stamps and Designer Series Paper in this sweet promotion.

Until June 15th, you can score this exclusively available bundle of products, which includes the Stamp Set, Designer Series Paper and Calypso Coral Baker's Twine at a 20% discount.  Alternatively you can purchase the products individually, which is still limited to the June 15th deadline, but without the attached discount.

There's even a Sent with Love MDS kit available for download!  Sweet!

Check out all of the products in this special by visiting the dedicated page in my online store...

As alluded to at the end of yesterday's post, I have created a video to show a couple of techniques in MDS that I used in the scrapbook layout that featured in that post.

It's my first MDS tutorial video, but I have more in the works and am excitedly looking forward to sharing them with you in the not too distant future...

Would love to know if the video was helpful to you!

Leave a comment and let me know :-)

It's been Bloomin' Marvelous to Sale-a-brate with you!

I'm back today, as promised, to share with you my final Sale-a-bration samples for 2013.  I gave the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set from this year's Sale-a-bration a hammering and it has been the most popular Sale-a-bration choice for my customers this year too.  Eight stamps, featuring four sweet images plus four sentiments for free - you can't go far wrong with that ;-)

bloomin-marvelous-3.jpg

Soft and pretty, this card was a favourite amongst my workshop customers this Sale-a-bration.  I love how the little hummingbird looks about ready to swoop in for a beakful(?) of nectar :-)

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • "Stamping off" is a great technique to achieve monochromatic colour.  The flowers in this card are all stamped with Primrose Petals ink, with the top flower being stamped on scrap paper once before being stamped on Whisper White cardstock, and the centre flower stamped off twice.  The same technique was used for the leaves.
  • The "Oh Happy Day" sentiment (my favourite!) needed a little something behind it so that it didn't get lost in the expanse of card to the left of the stamped panel.  The small doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlet die did the job perfectly :-)
  • The two-tone effect of the humming bird was achieved by first inking up the stamp in Baja Breeze ink, then immediately rolling the edges of the stamp around in Marina Mist ink before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.  This is know as the "Rock 'n' Roll" technique.
  • If you're daunted by the idea of cutting images out with scissors like I have done with the flowers in this card, check out my Stampin' 101 video tutorial on "Fussy Cutting" for some simple tips to help you snip like a pro!

bloomin-marvelous-2.jpg

This card is a favourite for its pretty simplicity.  I CASEd the layout from this card on Mary Fish's Stampin' Pretty blog, simple changing  a couple of elements to my preference.

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • The soft colours were achieved using the "Stamping Off" technique as outlined in my stampin' tips for the previous card, this time using three co-ordinating colours - Midnight Muse, Island Indigo and Pool Party.
  • The snippet of Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon at the top left brings in some texture and added colour.
  • The addition of a single Basic Rhinestone is a great way of adding interest and bling without over-embellishing :-)
bloomin-marvelous-2-close.jpg

Stamps: Bloomin' Marvelous Paper: Midnight Muse, Pool Party, Whisper White Ink:Midnight Muse, Island Indigo and Pool Party Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon

bloomin-marvelous-4.jpg

This card is a definite departure from the pretty colours, but I love how it came together, prompted by the more masculine colour scheme in the patterned paper from the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper pack.

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • The butterfly image fits perfectly with the Bitty Butterfly Punch from the Seasonal Catalogue, which I discovered after I had cut them all out with Paper Snips....
  • The soft curve of the Soft Suede layer is achieved by using the centre section of the Adorning Accents Edgelits and accented by the co-ordinating Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.

Stamps: Bloomin' Marvelous, Teeny Tiny Sentiments Paper: Soft SuedeMidnight Muse, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe DSP Ink:Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze, Summer Starfruit, Early Espresso Accessories: 1" Square Punch,Basic Pearls, Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Stampin' Dimensionals

Strolling down Sycamore Street....

Following our meander down Madison Avenue yesterday, today we're taking a turn into Sycamore Street:-)

I love the boldness of this Designer Series Paper and have created a number of cards using it in conjunction with its co-ordinating stamp set.

madison-ave-1.jpg
madison-ave-1-close.jpg

I love how the long patterned stamp is the perfect shape for some DSP punched with the little "+" punch from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to nestle inside!

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Petite Pairs Paper: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP Ink: Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo Accessories: Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Tangerine Tango Scalloped Dots Ribbon, Ovals Collection Framelits, 1/2" Circle Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

madison-ave-3.jpg

Can you tell that the bright and colourful dots are my go-to pattern in this set of DSP...?!  The co-ordinating ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Buttons Bundle gets a guernsey this time too ;-)

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Petite Pairs Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Pool Party, Sycamore Street DSP Ink: Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Pool Party Accessories: Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Sycamore Street Ribbon and Buttons Bundle, Adorning Accents Edgelits, 1/2" Circle Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

madison-ave-2.jpg

This Designer Series Paper also does perfectly well in a quilt-like design, taking care to punch the designs perfectly with the 1" Square Punch to make up your "quilt blocks".

This time the two previously used ribbons are layered together for extra texture and colour.

Stamps: Perfect Punches Paper: Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Pool Party, Sycamore Street DSP Ink:  Island Indigo, Sahara SAnd (for sponging) Accessories: Sycamore Street Ribbon and Buttons Bundle, Tangerine Tango Scalloped Dots Ribbon, Labels Collection Framelits, Designer Frames Embossing Folders, Wide Oval Punch, 1" Square Punch, Stampin' Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals

I have a handful more cards to share to wrap up this Bloomin' Marvelous Sale-a-bration for 2013, so join me tomorrow for that... ;-)

Meandering down Madison Avenue...

madison-hearts-close.jpg

With the end of Sale-a-bration almost upon us (this coming Friday for those of you who are unaware...), I thought it was time that I showed you some more sample cards that I created with some of the free items in Sale-a-bration brochure.

This time I'm focusing on the gorgeous Madison Avenue stamp set, which happily has a range of other free Sale-a-bration items that complement it beautifully, namely the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and Ribbon & Buttons Bundle, and the Vine Street Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

madison-ave-white.jpg

You can see with this card that I'm still in the white-on-white phase that I referenced in my previous post ;-)  I love the crisp white with the bold splash of coloured spots in the strip of Sycamore Street DSP at the bottom and the sweet Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain bow.

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Sweet Essentials Paper: Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP Ink: Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo Accessories: Sycamore Street Ribbons & Button Bundle, Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain, Large Pearl Basic Jewels, Neutrals Buttons, Glue Dots

madison-ave-mt.jpg

More white, but also a touch of Pool Party this time too (can't believe the time of Pool Party and his good friends Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade is drawing to a close!  They'd have to be my all time fave In-Colors, hands down...).

The above card was one of the make and takes at the Seasonal Catalogue and Sale-a-bration launch event that some of my team and I held back at the beginning of February.

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Petite Pairs Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Sycamore Street DSP Ink: Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry Accessories: 1/2" and 2-1/2" Circle Punches, Hearts a Flutter and Bitty Banners Framelits, Vine Street Embossing Folder, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

madison-hearts.jpg

This card showcases how you don't have to be restricted to using just the stamps in the one set - here I mixed it up with some hearts from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and Framelits and completely veered away from the colour scheme dictated in the previous cards by the Sycamore Street DSP, this time opting to pair the stamps with the softer Tea for Two DSP and some pretty, girly colours :-)

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Hearts a Flutter, Sweet Essentials Paper: So Saffron, Tangerine Tango,Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Tea for Two DSP Ink: Lucky Limeade, Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette Accessories: Sycamore Street Ribbons & Button Bundle, Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, Hearts a Flutter Framelits

If you have yet to take advantage of the amazing freebies to be had during Sale-a-bration, make sure to contact me with your order by this coming Friday, March 22nd!

Join me here tomorrow as we turn and take a stroll down Sycamore Street.... ;-)

White on white & a Stampin' 101 video tutorial

oh-hello-white.jpg

This is one of my favourite cards from the recent batch that I have made with products from the Seasonal Catalogue.  I'm loving the white on white and the subtle colours of the stamped images with a touch of Basic Gray and the addition of some Chevron texture :-)

I have created a video to show you how I cut with scissors, which in and of itself is not really a stampin' technique, but with a couple of simple tips, hopefully the process of "fussy cutting" might be slightly simplified and streamlined for you.

Enjoy!

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • For this type of neat, close cutting, you can't go past the Paper Snips (130579 - $16.95) from Stampin' Up!  Small and sharp, they make fussy cutting a breeze!
  • The product bundles in the Seasonal Catalogue give you way more bang for your buck!  The bundle featuring the Oh Hello stamp set that I have used in this card, along with the Ovals Collection Framelitsfor use with the Bigshot will save you 15% on the cost of purchasing the products individually.  You can't argue with that ;-)

If you found value in today's video, please let me know!  I'm still quite new to this video thing, and while I'm enjoying the learning process of making and editing them, I'd love to know that they are a helpful resource for you!

If you have any suggestions for future video topics, please be sure to leave me a comment to let me know :-)

Ombre: Stampin' Up! style...

With a week and a half to go until Sale-a-bration is over for another year, I thought it was time I came back to share some more of my creations with this year's free offerings, this one being another with the delightful Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set.

bloomin-marvelous-5

I'm loving the monochromatic-ness(?!) of this card and the graduating/ombre pinks - nice and girly and the perfect card featuring five pretty butterflies for my delightful niece who just turned five yesterday :-)

The fact that she asked for (and received!) a Bunnings voucher for her birthday is testament to her well rounded upbringing - a perfect combination of girly and practical... ;-)

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • Experiment with colour!  The fabulous range of hues within the Stampin' Up! colour collections make for perfect graduating shades of the same colour - a very current trend :-D
  • Play with angles.  I'm usually a straight up and down girl, but the butterfly panel on this card didn't look at all right until I tilted it a little to the left ;-)

Sale-a-bration finishes up next Friday March 22nd, so if you have yet to score yourself your freebie(s) of choice, you'll want to act quickly!  Email or call (0411 717 213) your $100 order through to me to take advantage of this fantastic promotion while you still have time

A handmade blokey thank you...

david-book-detail

If you follow my Facebook page (what do you MEAN you don't follow my Facebook page...?!), then you would have seen me allude to the fact last week that I was trying my hand at making a gift for a bloke.

And wondering if I was slightly mad to be doing so...

Well I did it, and having had a few days to keep picking it up and looking at the finished product, I'm very glad I did :-)  What started out as a picture in my brain (do your projects start out that way too...?), I'm pleased to report that it turned out as well, if not better than I had hoped...

david-book

david-book-detail

david-book-corner

The book itself is one that I got at Typo in Sydney several years ago now (before Typo headed over to us here in the West)   I have a whole shelf in my craft room cupboard dedicated to "alterables" that I collect and like to have on hand for when inspiration and the need for a handmade gift strike.

It's a simple lined notebook, and I'm fairly confident/quietly hopeful that the recipient is a notebook type of person.  I'm also hopeful that despite knowing that he has read my blog in the past, he won't be visiting here prior to receiving it in the mail next week...

SARAH'S STAMPIN' TIPS:

  • You don't necessarily have to own stamps with tools on them to create blokey projects.  I tend to use combinations of blues, greens and browns and basic shapes when creating for the fellas in my life
  • Get out your sewing machine!  Stitching adds some great extra texture :-)
  • Check out the new embossing folders in the catalogue for some fantastic blokey options!  Houndstooth, Chevron and Argyle spring to mind...
  • The "D" monogram was cut out using the BigShot and the new Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die from a piece of thin chipboard backing that came with something, some time, probably a long time ago that I had saved, knowing that it would be useful down the track.  Moral of the story - save your packaging :-D

What do you make for the blokes in your life...?

Stamps: French Foliage Paper: Naturals Ivory, First Edition Specialty DSP, Fan Fair DSP Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede Accessories: Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die, Houndstooth Embossing Folder, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Antique Brads, Neutrals Buttons, Linen Thread, Stampin' Sponges, Sewing Machine
