One of the best takeaways from the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event that I attended in Melbourne in November just past (aside, of course, from the swag of Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration freebies #demoperk), was the simple stamping message.
Having been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for almost 12 years and a crafter for longer, I sometimes place undue pressure on myself to produce a masterpiece in every stampin’ session. Since I don’t have the luxury to create in the same chunks of time I’ve had in the past, this can (and has!) resulted in much less stampin’ output and the accompanying frustration!
As with many things, simple is often best, and this can also be the case for stamping. Not that I’m averse to adding all the bells and whistles to a card when the occasion calls for it and I have the time and inclination, but allowing myself to create simply and without the pressure is something I need to be more intentional about.
Thankfully, Stampin’ Up! is leading the charge and encouraging us to spread the #simplestamping joy! A couple of days ago on the Demonstrator Website, a challenge was posted with the following guidelines:
Theme: Valentine's Day
Supplies: Stamps, ink and paper
Bonus Material/Tool: You may use a punch
I tend not to buy into the Valentine’s Day thing in a big way but was happy to go along with it for the sake of the challenge, albeit bypassing the word ‘valentine’ and sticking with the old favorite ‘love you’.
This was whipped up in a matter of moments and I am encouraged by how simple but effective it can be to stamp simply.
Will you take the challenge?!
I’d love to see some simply stamped creations, valentines or otherwise! Head over to my Facebook Page and share yours!
