Forty and fabulous!

I made a card. And it came out of my brain instead of off Pinterest. These things must be celebrated, as should beautiful friends who turn 40 and throw gorgeous parties with pretty food on breezy, summery evenings with lovely people in attendance...

This card is a combination of so many things that I have been wanting to try out recently.

  • Brusho beckons at me often, and I love the vivid stain of the three citrus-y colours in the background
  • The Celebrate You Thinlits - FREE with a qualifying Sale-a-bration order - arrived at my house at least a couple of weeks ago and haven't been aired nearly enough. I love the bold black statement of the 'celebrate' word here
  • Washi tape. The thing that is collected far more frequently than it is used. Or is that just me? A single strip of the black and white patterned washi from the Pick a Pattern pack adds decoration AND function by holding the doily in place

My favourite thing here though is the splattery golden goodness.

Behold...

It's an idea that I recall Shelli (Stampin' Up! queen and co-founder) demonstrating at an event one time, combined with an idea that I saw on the blog of one of Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Design team. I see these things, file them away and recall them at random times like the weekend just gone.

To get the effect, mix some Tombow Multipurpose Glue with water using an Aquapainter and flick it over the cardstock, leaving little blobs of watery glue. Some Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder poured over the top grabs onto the blobs. Tap off the excess powder, then emboss as usual using the Heat Tool.

Voila! Random, golden and gorgeous!

Hope your weekend was as lovely as mine!
