To the nation's capital...

In one more sleep (or possibly no more sleeps depending on how my excitement level affects the quality of tonight's slumber...), I, along with four members of my gorgeous stampin' team, are headed to beautiful Canberra for convention 2012.  I can hardly believe how quickly it has snuck up (nor can I believe how quickly the two month anniversary of my last post did the very same thing...), but here it is and although convention always sends me into a bit of an adrenalin fueled spin, this year I feel a little bit extra excitable...

There's always the overdue squeezes from some of my favourite interstate stampers (start flexing those arm muscles, Marelle, I'm seeking you out first!), then there are the exclusive sneak peeks of new and upcoming catalogue products, some of which we even have chances to win.  There are the wonderful Stampin' Up! staff, both from Sydney and from the home office all the way over in Utah, including Shelli herself - the whole reason I have this job that I adore so much.

There is always super fun announcements and exciting news to hear, and if the giveaways and freebies at past conventions are anything to go by, my luggage is once again going to be more of an issue coming home than going over.  Then of course there's Memento Mall - the place where all the cutest Stampin' Up! logo stuff ever invented bands together for a co-ordinated assault on any credit card within range...

One of the things I'm most excited about this year is the opportunity to present a "workshop wow" up on the stage during Thursday's afternoon session.  Six years ago, the very mention of doing such a thing would have had me quaking in my boots at the very though, but having had the opportunity to present at several regional events, plus the last time convention was in Canberra three years ago, I am much less nervous at the prospect now, plus I am beyond excited about what I am demonstrating!  I can't tell you what it is, but I  can show you as soon as I get home...

For now though, what I can show you is a card that I made for a wedding that we went to at the end of March....

It was the first time the Summer Solstice stamp set had even seen a sniff of ink - a whole year after I received it as an award at convention last year!  It was so perfect for the occasion though, and was one of those cards that I sort of pictured in my head before committing it to card stock.  Thankfully it was also one of those cards that turned out just as I had pictured :-)

Here's a detailed shot of the floral embellishment...

Seeing as I'm pretty much sorted for tomorrow morning's pre-sparrow-fart departure, I'm going to do my best to load up a few more posts tonight to pop up daily while I'm away.  You'll work out how that goes depending on whether anything appears here in the morning...  ;-)

As for live convention adventures, I'll be doing my best to keep you as up to date as I can from the ground at the National Convention Centre via my Facebook page, with a couple of important disclaimers...

1. Some things will be secret squirrel announcements that I won't be allowed to share 2. I won't be updating at the expense of good manners and social graces, so as much as I will have my phone and tablet handy, I won't be the one bent over them in the corner, especially as I don't want to miss it when they call me out as a Prize Patrol winner...
