I'm actually a day late posting this, but yesterday was THE day, so a blog post just wasn't going to fit in amongst the excitement of present opening, helping out at pre-primary, finishing off the lolly bags to hand to Hannah's classmates etc etc! Yesterday was the day that my sweet and precious angel-faced big girl turned 5!
I promise I'm going to post a picture of the card I made her, and if you want to see it right away, just scroll down a bit, but for the moment, I just want to celebrate my amazing oldest child, publicly, because I have a blog and because I can!!
If you read the post a little while back, where I was tagged, you'd have read about the fact that I have small babies that don't grow so well in utero. I have been looking back over some photos of Hannah as a newborn and am amazed all over again how teeny tiny she was and how well she did in those first weeks and months. She was in hospital for three weeks after she was born, being fed by a tube and slowly getting stronger, having started out needing oxygen and being covered in all sorts of tubes and wires and inside an isolet to keep her temperature up. Then after we were finally able to take her home, four weeks later she was back in hospital for a week with a respiratory virus. It was a pretty hard time and five years on it's quite amazing to remember how she started out.
Because I have a funky new slideshow function that I have been playing with, here are some pictures of the tiny bump she was the day before she was born and some of her first few days (I promise that the pictures do change eventually! I haven't worked out how to shorten the transition time, so if you're interested to see the pics, hang in there!!)
And here is a picture of the precious big girl that she is now... Happy happy birthday my gorgeous, sweet, thoughtful, inspiring, clever, kind and wonderful angel! Mummy and Daddy are so proud of you!
