I had heard of making scratch and sniff stamped images AGES ago but had never tried it for myself until I received my Impressions newsletter from Stampin' Up! this month. Impressions is one of the many many perks of being a demonstrator, but don't get me started, I have a card to tell you about! Of course if you'd like some information about the wonderous opportunity of becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you could of course send me an email and I'd be more than happy to tell you all about it!
But I digress......scratch and sniff........this is an amazing and fabulous technique that falls into the category of "who ever thinks up these amazing and fabulous techniques?" And it really works! My big girl was following me around the house the other day asking "can I scratch it again?!"
It involves stamping an image in Versamark (solid images work best), throwing a combination of jelly crystals (sugar free) and embossing powder on and then you just blast it with your heat gun like normal embossing!
The colour of the heart in this card is just the result of using Strawberry flavoured jelly crystals! The colour ended up a pretty nifty match for blush blossom, so that was the start of the resulting colour combination :)
Here's the recipe (and it really is almost a recipe given that a food item is involved!):
Stamps: Simply Said, Background Sampler, Print Pattern, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Cardstock: Blush Blossom, Whisper White
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Rose Red, Versamark
Accessories: Horizontal Slot Punch, Flirty Ribbon Originals, Stampin' Dimensionals
Pantry items: Strawberry Aeroplane Jelly (lite) - the sugar free part is important, otherwise it will burn and go brown - ick!!
