Why I LOVE the Idea Book & Catalogue (and you should too!!)

I did a workshop the other night for a friend of mine (hi Carol!!) and she requested some ideas for kids' birthday cards - some for younger kids and some for older ones. I came up with four different ones - two for boys and two for girls. Actually I didn't come up with them at all, I got all four ideas directly from the current catalogue, just changed around the stamps and colours used. For the most part, when I am making cards for kids' birthdays, it is 5 minutes before we are running out the door to the party, so I don't want it to be too involved a process. That's why using pre-existing templates from the catalogue is perfect! Here is the little girls' one:

Eat Cake 1

I used the Soft Subtles Markers with the Eat Cake set for this one. There is also some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the candles, but it doesn't show up on the scan...

This next one is the little boys' one:

Loads of love 1

I watercoloured the truck from Loads of Love using the aquapainter and the Watercolour Wonder Crayons. I love all the things you can do with these crayons! They are also on promotion this month - 25% off a colour family set with any $50 purchase! Gotta love a sale....

This card is the big girls' one:

Because of You 1

Again using the Watercolour Wonder Crayons, but this time on the back of vellum with the image stamped in black on the front. I won this Because of You set at Perth Regionals as a door prize - I love nothing more than free stamps! Colours used here are Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose and Apricot Appeal.

This final one is one for older boys. I have to admit that I do find it harder to come up with ideas for male cards....

Teen male

...although I do love these colours - Sahara Sand, Cranberry Crisp, Buckaroo Blue and More Mustard. The Stripes are from the Treehouse range of Designer Papers. I used some more tiny word stamps here again, this time from Everyday Flexible Phrases. The border stamp is from Label Classics and the Enjoy is from Be Happy, one of the sets we received at Convention this year.

As I said at the top of this post, all of these cards are remakes of cards directly out of the Australian 2007/08 Idea Book & Catalogue, just with stamps and colours changed. Here's an idea......first person to leave a comment (correctly) telling me which cards I used as templates for all four cards gets them. Ready set go!
